WARMTH
2024
Warmth is a sculptural work composed of recycled materials, like old radiators. Through the brute force of industrial machines, these heavy, familiar objects have been reshaped into forms that appear unexpectedly soft and almost fluid. Coated in a soft pink, the once-industrial surfaces take on a subtle, feminine presence — a tension between force and gentleness, between industry and intimacy.
The title Warmth reflects both the physical and symbolic qualities of the work. It gestures toward the literal heat radiators produce — essential yet often unnoticed, quietly supporting the rhythms of daily life. At the same time, it hints at the warmth found in acts of reuse and reconstruction, where discarded materials are given a renewed life and value. In this sense, the work brings together questions of energy, sustainability and the tenderness that can emerge from engaging respectfully with what already exists.
Behind the piece lies a collaboration that brings together two seemingly distant worlds. The raw, predominantly male industrial environment intersects with the practice of a female artist. Through working together a space emerged in which shared ground could surface and initial preconceptions could shift into dialogue and mutual inspiration. Rather than emphasizing division, Warmth reveals how such encounters can soften boundaries, encourage exchange and generate new forms — both within the sculpture itself and within the relationships that shaped its creation.
Warmth invites viewers to reflect on how we perceive energy, materials and connection. It offers a moment to consider the hidden systems that support us, the potential of materials to speak again, and the subtle transformations that occur when unexpected worlds come into contact.
